Dr. Biagini completed his fellowship at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Fla., and his residency at Rush Medical College in Chicago. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Biagini was born and raised in Macomb, and he says there is a real need for specialists in that area. He chose to go into gastroenterology because, to him, it represented a hybrid role.
“You have primary care, and you also act as a specialist,” he says. “Every single year a top five cause of cancer-related deaths is colon cancer. One out of every 10 polyps turn into cancer, so you’re preventing cancer. And when it comes to procedures, I appreciate that instant gratification—there is something bad and now it’s gone."
In his free time, Dr. Biagini enjoys the outdoors, exercising and anything to do with farming.
