Gareth McGee, DO, provides care with the Springfield Clinic's Colon & Rectal Surgery Department and sees patients at Springfield Clinic Peoria.
Dr. McGee earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale-Davie, Fla. He completed his general surgery residency at Spartanburg Regional Heatlhcare System in Spartanburg, S.C., and his Colon & Rectal Surgery Fellowship at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.
Dr. McGee's interest in medicine grew out of his love for learning and the sciences. "Science as a whole was an exciting topic for me," he says. "And that naturally led into a career in medicine."
In his practice, Dr. McGee enjoys the rewards of his practice in helping patients improve their quality of life. His scope of practice includes treating various disease of the colon and rectum, both benign and malignant.
"For me, taking care of patients means helping them understand what is going on with them and then going through the process of how we manage that disease," Dr. McGee says when describing his care style.
In his free time, Dr. McGee places his priority on spending time with his family and enjoying being outdoors.
