Crystal Wingerter, APRN, DNP, CNP, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Family Medicine team at Springfield Clinic Taylorville.

Crystal earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Crystal decided to pursue a career in medicine at a young age, after she helped rescue her sister from choking as a child. Wanting to help people for her job, she spent the majority of her 16 years as a nurse in the cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology fields. Once she decided to become a nurse practitioner, she enjoyed her family medicine rotations, too, and decided to stick with primary care for the time being. 

Crystal fell in love with the Springfield Clinic Taylorville location and patients while she was in training and is looking forward to staying there and providing care. Once she begins her practice, she intends to achieve additional certification in mental health care. "I am very passionate about mental health. I am glad we are talking about mental illness more openly in health care now, but we have a long way to go to break the stigma!"

When Crystal is not working, she loves to read, travel and listen to music.
